Punjab Education Minister Dr Murad Rass announced on Friday that the closure of all educational institutions in the province has been extended till September 15.
“All Public and Private Schools of Punjab to remain closed until Wednesday, September 15th, 2021,” he wrote on his official Twitter handle, urging residents to stay home and stay safe.

According to a statement issued by the Office of the Spokesperson to Minister for School Education Punjab, the decision to close schools has been taken due to the current situation of Covid in the province.
The minister also emphasised the implementation of SOPs “as much as possible”.

The announcement comes after last week's decision to keep schools in Punjab closed from September 6 to September 11.

Reportedly, the provincial government decided to extend school holidays and now schools in Punjab will open on September 15.
Earlier, the government had decided to close educational institutions in Punjab due to an increase in the number of coronavirus cases.
After reviewing the overall health situation due to the pandemic, the Punjab government extended this closure.

Raas in his tweet said that closure of schools was due to the coronavirus situation across the province. He further said that all public and private schools will be closed till September 15 in Punjab. The provincial school education minister also said that implementation of SOPs will be ensured at schools.
On the other hand, Punjab Health Department also advised the public to follow SOPs in the prevailing virus situation.
"We are totally focusing on controlling the situation and our priority was the vaccination of public. We are also developing infrastructure at hospitals for the purpose.
