IUB VC appreciates dedication of people, institutions in protecting country

Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) Vice Chancellor (VC) Dr Athar Mahboob said on Monday that September 6 is dedicated to the brave soldiers and martyrs who protected the geographical and ideological borders of Pakistan and pushed away the enemy during the war of 1965.

He was addressing a webinar in connection with Pakistan Defence Day organised by the Islamia University of Bahawalpur’s Department of Pakistan Studies.

“On this day our forces crushed the nefarious enemy with full might,” he highlighted.

“They had come to take away our freedom and wipe out our beloved homeland from the world map, however, their evil designs were thwarted and our military decisively defeated the enemy,” the vice chancellor added.

Speaking on the occasion, IUB Department of Pakistan Studies Chairman Professor Aftab Hussain Gilani maintained that the spirit of defence and self-sacrifice of the people of Pakistan is incomparable.

“Today is the day when we renew our commitment that every citizen of this country will give priority to national interests and security over their personal interest and would not allow anyone to challenge the wellbeing and peace of the country.
