Vasay claps back at Yasir by explaining why films like 'Lahore Se Aagay' run in cinemas

Writer responded to Yasir Hussain's reservations on what messages films like 'JPNA' and 'Punjab Nahi Jaungi' give out

Yasir Hussain has often landed himself in trouble with his tongue-in-cheek responses. The Jhooti star, who is currently gearing up for his much-anticipated upcoming project, has always been a staunch supporter of showing the 'real' portrait of society. Essaying Pakistan's most notorious serial killer, Javed Iqbal, in the yet-to-be-released biopic, Hussain is getting ready for a role of a lifetime.

His first look as Iqbal has garnered brilliant responses from the audience and critics alike. Hussain recently spoke to The Express Tribune and shared how filmmakers need to pay heed to stories such as Javed Iqbal as well. "Someone asked me what would be the message of this film? What's the purpose of it? I want to know what kind of message does Jawani Phir Nahi Ani, Punjab Nahi Jaungi or such films really give out?" the Lahore Se Aagay actor had commented.

Jawani Phir Nahi Ani writer and actor Vasay Chaudhry has now shared his two cents on the matter. Taking to Instagram, the popular playwright quipped, "Besides providing quality family entertainment, these films played a vital role in the growth and resurfacing of Pakistani box office so films like Lahore Se Aagay can also run in the cinemas."

Earlier, Hussain had divulged why the criticism on Javed Iqbal was pointless. "The film doesn't show the recreation of his crimes, it revolves around his confession to the police and what followed. The idea isn't to highlight anything negative about Pakistan, but did these crimes not occur? When people ask me what was the need to make this film, I ask them why not?" he had said.
