A shop owner was burnt alive as a result of a fire that erupted due to short circuit followed by roof collapse on Tuesday.

According to the police report, the fire was erupted so rapidly that it engulfed the nearby house and burnt it to ashes while goods worth millions of rupees were also burnt.

A Rescue 1122 team reached the spot to extinguish the fire after hectic efforts.

Reportedly, Ghulam Mustafa, a resident of Jamleera, a suburban town had stocked two canes filled with petrol at his shop containing large number of gas cylinders. All of a sudden, the shop caught fire by dint of short circuit which resulted in a huge explosion that led to caved in roof of the shop.

As a result of the incident, the shop owner named Ghulam Mustafa sitting underneath of the roof died after being burnt by the fire and buried under the debris of the roof. However, the family living in the adjacent house suffered minor injuries. Police reached the accident site for investigation into the matter.
