Covid claims 15 more lives overnight

5,411,268 tests have been conducted against which 422,370 cases were diagnosed

The fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic claimed 15 more lives overnight lifting the death toll to 6,627. In a statement on Monday, Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah said, as many as 18,455 tests were conducted in which 1,459 positive cases were detected that constitutes 1.6 per cent death rate and 8.0 per cent current detection rate.

Sharing vaccination data the CM said that 10,089,341 vaccination injections have been administered across the province up to August 21 and added during the last 24 hours 122,105 people were inoculated against the pandemic- in total 10,211,446 vaccines have been administered which constitute 29.76 per cent of the vaccine eligible population.

Shah added that so far 5,411,268 tests have been conducted against which 422,370 cases were diagnosed, of them 86.9 per cent or 367,241 patients have recovered, including 766 overnight. The CM said that currently 48,502 patients were under treatment. Of them 47,259 were in home isolation, 35 at isolation centres and 1,208 at different hospitals.

According to the statement, out of 1,459 new cases, 706 have been detected from Karachi. Hyderabad has 200, Khairpur 52, Sanghar 51, Jamshoro 39, Badin and Matiari 36 each, Mirpurkhas 35, Ghotki 33, Shaheed Benazirabad 29, Thatta 27, Naushero Feroze 24, Umerkot 23, Sukkur and Tharparkar 22, Dadu 19, Qamber 15, Shikarpur 14, Tando Allahyar 13, Jacobabad 10, Larkana three, Kashmore and Tando Muhammad Khan two each and Sujawal one.
