ISLAMABAD:

Prominent analyst Ikram Sehgal’s book covering the tumultuous history of four decades of Pakistan was launched on Thursday.

Speakers said that all-important events that occurred in the last 40 years have been covered in the book, which they said everyone should read.

Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Senator Mushahid Hussain, former finance adviser Sartaj Aziz, Air Marshal (retd) Masood Akhtar and others attended the book launching ceremony.

Ikram Sehgal said that maintaining contacts is the best quality of any leader and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Prime Minister Imran Khan have these virtues and they are always forthcoming when contacted.

Sehgal said that Abbasi’s father was a great soldier and a great human being, but he has chosen the wrong party.

He said that Imran Khan is a good human being and an outstanding leader while Nawaz Sharif is a “good factory manager”. Regarding former president Pervez Musharraf, Sehgal said he was a brave soldier but the NRO he offered to politicians was a black law.

“I talk to Imran Khan on inflation and he is committed to doing away with it,” he said.

Sehgal said Pakistan is rich in natural resources and has vast reserves of copper and gold and it was needed to be tapped.

Expressing disappointment over the police performance, the author said crime could be eradicated from society if the police did its job honestly.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that Ikram Sehgal is a representative of the history of the last four decades and he has learnt and understood a lot from his writings.

He said that it was difficult to write and publish the truth in the current milieu, but the author has observed the events in Pakistan closely.
