RCB designates six open spots for slaughtering animals

Water, services like disposal of offal and shifting of meat will be provided free of cost

The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has designated six open spots for sacrifice of animals on Eidul Azha. The cantonment administration has divided the areas in 10 parts where coronavirus Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) will be strictly enforced.

The cantonment authorities will provide free services like drinking water for citizens and water needed in slaughtering animals, disposal of offal, shifting of meat. The cantonment administration will dig big ditches at six places to dispose of blood from animals.

The officials said that all related departments have been directed to make arrangements in light of rising cases of coronavirus. They said all cantonment areas have been split into 10 sectors including Bilal Colony Naseerabad, Khidmat Markaz Allabad Bazaar, Gawalmandi, Abid Majeed Road, Dispensary Ground, Iqbal Palace Dhamyal Road, Baraf Khana Chowk, Dhok Chaudhry Chowk, Chohar Chowk and Dhok Gujran. They added that six spots have been designated for sacrifice of animals.

The purpose of setting up mass sacrifice sites is to keep citizens safe from coronavirus, the officials said.

The designated sacrificial sites include Kamran Market, Dhobi Ghat, Gawalmandi, Rahmania Masjid Westridge, Tahli, Dispensary Ground and Ghaziabad Ground.

The cantonment officials said they will provide all necessary facilities to the people at these sites, they said, adding that they will also run an awareness campaign to persuade people to bring their animals to the open spaces.

They advised animals shouldn’t be slaughtered in streets and roads to avoid mass gathering of people in the wake of coronavirus. For this purpose, the sanitation branch has also appointed personnel.

The officials said the sanitation staff have been directed to ensure timely stationing of water bowsers at the mass sacrificial sites.
