Man guns down wife, mother-in-law

Police say killing was probably motivated by a domestic dispute

HARIPUR:

A man gunned down his wife and mother-in-law and shot and injured his three-month-old daughter on Saturday.

Police said that the incident occurred in Bilal Town area of Ghazi while the suspect fled. They added that the suspect’s one bullet that he had fired struck his three-month-old daughter in the leg.

Sources told that Atif, who is a resident of Abbottabad, killed his wife Uzma Bibi and mother-in-law Tauheeda Bibi when they were alone at home. Soon after the incident, the police rushed to the site and shifted the bodies to the Ghazi Hospital for post-mortem. The wounded child was taken to the emergency ward.

The police officials said that the killing is probably motivated by a domestic dispute. The offender fired five shots from a 9mm pistol as the police recovered the same number of bullet cases from the crime scene.

The deceased belonged to the Topi area of Swabi and their family has been informed.

The police have formed a team to book the suspect after the complaint was lodged on the complaint of Uzma’s brother.

Police said no relatives of the victims lived in the Ghazi area while Hamza, the brother of Atif’s wife, works at a biryani shop. The bodies have been handed over to the victims’ family .

The police officials said that suspect’s three-month daughter was injured but her condition is out of danger.
