Cabinet discusses the expected impact of evolving Afghan situation and the strategy to effectively deal with it

Provincial cabinet on Friday directed the Police Department to immediately start recruitment process against all the vacant posts in the province and to fix priorities for the procurement of required equipment as well taking into account the situation in neighbouring Afghanistan.

A special meeting of the cabinet was held here with Chief Minister Mahmood Khan in the chair.

It reviewed in depth the overall law and order situation of the province in the context of evolving scenario in the neighboring Afghanistan. The cabinet discussed the expected impact of the evolving Afghan situation on the province and the strategy to effectively deal with it. Besides provincial ministers, Chief Secretary, IGP, Divisional Commissioners, Regional Police Officers and others attended the meeting.

Police briefed the forum about the prevailing law and order situation of the province, expected challenges in the upcoming days as well as preparations, arrangements and requirements of Police Department to effectively deal with those challenges. In order to further strengthen the Police to enable it to effectively deal with any untoward situation, the provincial cabinet decided to provide all the financial resources on priority basis and urged it to effectively and judiciously use its existing resources.
