English-dubbed 'Dhadkan' has taken Twitter by storm

The film, which was released in 2000, stars Suniel Shetty, Akshay Kumar and Shilpa Shetty

An English-dubbed version of the Bollywood classic Dhadkan is doing the rounds on Twitter and leaving people in fits of laughter. The 2000 film, which starred Suniel Shetty, Akshay Kumar and Shilpa Shetty in leading roles, is famous for its OTT dialogue delivery and great music but the English version is going viral for all the wrong reasons. While the full-length dubbing is available on YouTube, a brief clip from the film recently exploded on Twitter, showing a scene in which Akshay and Shilpa’s characters meet the former’s family for the first time. While the scene, in its original Hindi, brims with the typical saas-bahu tension, viewers are too busy concentrating on the robotic quality of the dub to focus on anything else. 

A Twitter user shared the clip, writing, “So apparently there is an English dubbed version of Dhadkan and I am deceased.” The clip quickly went viral, with several people responding to the hilarious dubbing. While many users picked out other scenes from the English version to post and collectively laugh at, for many, the clip posted in the original tweet was more than enough.

One user tweeted in reply, “Omg! Such a tragedy! How can one enjoy the snarks and barbs and all other stuff in this? The dubbing is just pathetic!”

For a user who had yet to see the original film, the clip gave them the motivation they needed to finally commit a couple or so hours to the classic. They wrote, “I haven’t watched this movie but now I have a reason to.”
