Third suspect in minor brothers’ murder nabbed

Detained men confess to sexually assaulting children before killing them

Police have arrested another suspect in a kidnap-cum-murder case of two minor brothers in Okara on the basis of information provided by two men who were detained earlier.

The minor brothers were killed after being abducted from Rehman Colony and their bodies were thrown into a canal. The arrested suspects also revealed that they had sexually abused the children before killing them.

According to the police report, two minor brothers were abducted and killed in Rehman Colony area of B-Division police station two days ago.

As soon as the incident was reported, DSP Mehr Yousuf and SHO Hafiz Saeed along with a police team arrested two suspects, Noman and Tanveer, with the help of CCTV footage.

On the basis of information shared by the suspects, Rescue 1122 launched an operation to find the bodies of the children. After a 30-hour struggle, the rescue team found the bodies of the two minor brothers in the canal and transported them to a hospital.

The postmortem report of the children also confirmed that they were assaulted before the murder. However, samples have been sent to Lahore for forensic examination.

The funeral of both the children was held at Ghora Shah Central Cemetery on Sunday.

A case has been registered against suspects Noman and Tanveer by the police. The suspects told the police during interrogation that a third man, Abdul Ghaffar, was also involved in the incident.

DPO Faisal Shehzad told the Express Tribune that two teams of police were working on a scientific basis to investigate the incident.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar also took notice of the incident, after which Minister for Human Rights Ejaz Alam Augustine visited the homes of the slain children to offer condolences and assure their family of justice.

The Punjab government would also provide financial support to the family and offer legal support by a team of lawyers till the conclusion if the trial.

The atmosphere in the locality of the victims has been mournful since the incident. A large number of people were visiting their home daily to offer condolences.
