‘Water metres to instill importance among residents’

In order to make people realise the importance of water, the federal government is planning to install water metres in the capital. A pilot project will be launched in this regard, said Science and Technology Minister Shibli Faraz. He was speaking at the meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Science and Technology on Friday.

The minister told the committee that the Pakistan Council of Research and Water Resources have carried out a lot of research on water. “We will launch a pilot project to install water metres in Sector I-10,” he said, adding that water will be metered so that it is used in a controlled manner.

He also informed that the ministry is building an electronic voting machine (EVM), stating that Pakistan will compete with foreign companies in EVM. The purpose of the machine is to hold transparent and fair elections in the country, he added.

Faraz further maintained that the matter of the registration for three-year degrees in the Engineering Council is under consideration.

The Pakistan Engineering Council informed that a student acquired a three-year engineering degree from overseas which does not lead to graduation as far as the local system is concerned.
