QUETTA:

Balochistan government spokesperson Liaquat Shahwani said an FIR was registered against the opposition lawmakers under the law and the government wouldn’t allow anyone to take law into his hands.

“Earlier, rich and poor have been treated differently for the same crimes under the law. But now the law is equal for everyone,” said Shahwani while addressing a press conference at the Officers Club Quetta on Sunday. He lamented that the opposition should have been participating in the budget sessions of the assembly and said the allocations made for the financial year 2021-22 could be improved if the opposition MPAs attended the meetings.

The provincial government spokesperson said Sardar Yar Mohammad Rind, who is Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentary Leader in Balochistan Assembly and former provincial education minister, took the decision to resign from the cabinet.

“The chief minister is keen to see Rind again as a part of the cabinet,” he said, hoping it would be a positive step and the government would address the questions raised by Zeenat Shahwani.

An expelled lawmaker from the Balochistan National Party, Shahwani said on Saturday that allegations of horse-trading against her were fabricated and her membership from the party was terminated without making transparent investigation.

The MPA claimed the leadership was pressurizing her to resign from the party, but she would not accept any enforced decision.
