KARACHI:

A two-member bench of the Sindh High Court, comprising Justice KK Agha and Justice Abdul Mobeen Lakho, issued on Wednesday a non-bailable arrest warrant for Ministry of Interior Secretary Yousuf Naseem.

The warrant was issued over the secretary’s failure to appear for the hearing of a plea seeking the recovery of missing person Shamshad Ali.

The court was irked at Naseem for being absent despite being summoned. It observed that citizens had been missing for years, but the interior secretary was continuously disregarding judicial orders.

Neither has the secretary appeared nor has he submitted a report of detention centres, remarked the court.

The court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for the secretary and directed the Islamabad inspector general to produce him before the SHC on May 27. The court had sought a report from the secretary over the disappearance of Ali who has been missing since 2015.
