Barren land transformed into fertile ground

'3,000 acres to be made cultivable through public-private partnerships'

Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar has said that approximately 3,000 acres of province's uninhabited and barren land will be made cultivable through cooperative farming and public-private partnerships. A production equivalent to A-class agricultural land will also be targeted from this uninhabited land using the latest agricultural technology, in line with the Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's vision of Green Sindh. This was said by Naveed Qamar in a meeting with officers at the Sindh Investment Department office on Thursday.

He said that this project to make uninhabited land cultivable has taken into account in view of the scarcity of water in the Indus River, therefore, the project will be made successful by using the latest agricultural technology while staying within the available water resources. Under cooperative farming, uninhabited land will be made viable and productive, he added.

Qamar said that this project of the Sindh government under the Public Private Partnership will, God willing, prove to be an exemplary project that other provinces will also replicate.
