In line with the vision of the government for ease of doing business, the National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) has decided to promote and encourage the local industry, manufacturers and contractors in the power sector.

During a virtual meeting with all stakeholders, NTDC Board of Directors Chairman Naveed Ismail said that as per the vision of the government the company aimed to encourage the local industry, manufacturers, contractors, consultants, suppliers of transformers, cables, conductors, towers and other accessories.

“This will promote indigenisation, introduce new players in the market, save foreign exchange and create employment opportunities while supporting GDP growth of the country,” he added.

Later, NTDC Managing Director Engineer Dr Khawaja Riffat Hassan chaired second session of the meeting of consultants and contractors, wherein suggestions of every participant were noted and taken seriously for establishing a mechanism. He asked all stakeholders to submit their collective suggestions and proposals to NTDC for further deliberation. Hassan said that to promote local industry, NTDC team would review the process after fulfilling legal formalities.
