Five students among six killed in road accident
Reflecting the ever-prevalent violations of traffic regulations, an accident between a passenger van and a motorcycle on Monday claimed the lives of six people, including five minors, in Khairpur district.
A student was also critically injured. All the deceased as well as the injured student, who belonged to the same family, were riding on the motorbike.
According to the police, a passenger van transporting people from Khairpur to Karachi hit a motorcycle at Nabi Arain stop on the Mehran Highway near Kot Lalu. Three of the deceased, including 12-year-old Barsat Ali Mari, Ali Jan Mari, and the motorcyclist, Imtiaz Ali Mari, died on the spot.
Three others, identified as Zafar Ali Mari, 10, and eight-year-old Muzaffar Ali Mari, breathed their last when they were being shifted to a hospital in Nawabshah while nine-year-old Intizar Ali Mari succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The lone survivor, 10-year-old Hubdar Ali Mari, was admitted to the intensive care unit at Peoples Medical College hospital, where his condition was stated to be critical.
All the students, who were residents of Hussain Bux Mari village, were enrolled in Al Ramzan Model School. Quoting the aggrieved families, the police told the local media that the students were dropped to the school, and picked from there, daily on the motorcycle.
The bodies of the deceased were handed over their respective families after the postmortem.
