Govt taking steps to develop export culture

Special aide stresses need to focus on advanced technology to promote industrialisation

The government wants to develop export culture and for this purpose, a policy is being evolved in consultation with local industrialists, said Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister for Trade and Investment Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan.

During a meeting with business community at the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), he said that the government was fully aware of the problems being faced by the business community. Khan, who is also the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade chairman, assured businessmen that the government was making all-out efforts to find a solution to the problems by taking the business community into confidence.

He acknowledged the role of the industrial city of Sialkot in economic sustenance of the province and the country.

The special assistant highlighted that Sialkot was exporting the best quality sports goods, surgical instruments, leather products, gloves of all sorts, textile items, sportswear, martial art uniforms and accessories, musical instruments, kitchenware, hollowware, knives, cutlery items and military uniform badges internationally.

He said that facilitating exporters, through ease of doing business initiatives, was the foremost priority of the Punjab government.
