ISLAMABAD:

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority has recommended an increase of up to Rs6 per litre in the prices of petroleum products.

A notification to this effect has been forwarded to the Petroleum Division.

According to sources, Ogra has proposed an increase of Rs5 per litre in the price of petrol, Rs6 per litre each in the rates of high speed diesel and light diesel oil and Rs4.5 per litre for kerosene oil.

Currently, petrol is being sold at Rs111.90 per litre, HSD at Rs116.07, LDO at Rs79.23 and kerosene oil at Rs80.19.

However, the final decision about increasing the prices of petroleum products will be taken by the finance ministry after consultation and approval of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

It may be recalled that Ogra had also sent a summary to the Ministry of Petroleum last month for an increase of up to Rs7 per litre in the prices of petroleum products but the prime minister had rejected the proposal, saying: “The people must be given a relief.”
