ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF) President Professor Dr. Manzoor Hussain Soomro on Thursday urged youths to embark on a career in engineering and technology to meet future challenges.
In his message on World Engineering Day, Dr. Soomro said engineering professionals of the ECO region had all the potential to create economic and business opportunities to maintain the prosperity of the region in today's competitive global economy.
“Our future economic standing and development of our society solely depends on our ability to nurture the future generation of engineers and technologists. We have to inspire our youth to embark on a career in engineering and technology if we are to meet the challenges of the future,” he said.
He continued: “The ECO region faces enormous challenges and it will be extremely difficult for us to improve our lives, feed our growing populations, protect our children and climate if we did not invest in our youth and build a future generation of engineering leaders to find resource-efficient, cheaper and smarter ways of industrial development for socio-economic growth.”
He congratulated UNESCO and the World Federation of Engineering Organisations for celebrating this day and highlighting the critical role of engineers who had immensely contributed to the infrastructure and technological development.
