Nearly 300 new infections detected

Covid-19 claimed nine more lives in Sindh on Tuesday, when 296 new infections were confirmed, said Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued on the day.

The CM said the results of 9,077 samples were released on the day and of those nearly 300 were found infected, lifting the Covid-19 tally in the province to 256,740. Besides, he added, with nine more deaths, the coronavirus death toll has climbed to 4,301.

According to him, 159 of the new cases were reported from Karachi, 33 from Hyderabad, 28 from Jamshoro, 25 from Ghotki, 15 from Dadu, eight from Jacobabad, five from Umerkot, four each from Mirpurkhas and Tando Muhammad Khan, two from Sukkur and one each from Kashmore, Noshero Feroze, Shikarpur and Larkana.

The CM said that 771 fresh recoveries were reported in Sindh, following which the total number of recoveries reported in the province added up to 240,057.

Currently, 12,382 Covid-19 patients are under treatment here, the CM stated, adding that 11,946 of them were in home isolation, 11 in isolation centres and 425 in hospitals. The condition of 387 patients is critical with 55 shifted on ventilators, he said.
