Victims were killed by family members over domestic disputes

Two women were allegedly murdered in separate incidents in Dijkot on Friday.

Police said a woman, who ran away from her home, was killed by her brother and buried in a nearby graveyard.

Police arrested the suspect and registered a case after recovering the victim’s body.

As per the police report, 32-year-old Jati Bibi was married to Muhammad Nawaz, a resident of Pakpattan Sharif, in the suburb village of Mouza Shadi, Sadat Kalanwala. She had fled with her paramour 11 days ago.

Her brother Liaquat brought her back to their village. On the day of the incident, Liaquat allegedly killed his sister by stran- gling her using a dupatta around her neck while she was asleep. Reportedly, the victim was murdered in the name of honour.

The suspect then dug a pit and buried her in the adjacent graveyard. In the next morning, when the victim was nowhere to be found, her mother Phajan Bibi in- formed Garh police station about the situation.

Police arrested Liaquat and started investigation into the matter. The suspect confessed during interrogation that he killed his sister in the name of honour and then he buried her body in the graveyard.

Tandlianwala DSP Naeem Aziz Sindhu and Garh SHO dug the pit on the identi- fication of the suspect and recovered the body of Jati.

The body was transferred to a hospital for postmortem and a case was registered under Sections 302, 311 and 201 PPC on the statement of the victim’s mother.

Meanwhile, in a domestic dispute, a man stabbed his pregnant wife to death and injured himself. He was rushed to a hospital.

The victim identified as 32-year-old Sobia Rani, the daughter of Qasim Ali, and a resident of Rafiq Colony, Street No 1, Razaabad, was married, for the second time, to Muhammad Nadeem, the son of Karim Din and a resident of Chauhar Majra.

The couple had a one and a half year old son. Meanwhile, Sobia came to her parent’s house for the delivery of her second child. Reportedly, she was expected to deliver her baby in the next four to five days.

On the day of the incident, Nadeem came to visit his wife. During this time, there was a quarrel between the couple. The suspect Nadeem stabbed his pregnant wife using a knife and killed her on the spot.

Later, he also injured himself. He was rushed to Allied Hospital Faisalabad in a critical condition. Razaabad police handed over the body of the deceased to her heirs after postmortem and registered a case under Section 302/34 TP on the statement of Sobia’s mother Shamim Akhtar.

According to police report, Nadeem was undergoing treatment at the hospital and his condition was stated to be critical.
