HYDERABAD:

A couple died of poisoning by an unidentified substance in a chemical factory in Gharo, Thatta district on Monday. The deceased doctors, Syed Abrar Hussain and his wife Rehana Abrar, hailed from Karachi. According to Gharo SHO Mumtaz Brohi, the couple was sitting in their office away from the factory's chemical plant when Dr. Hussain fell unconscious and died. Dr. Rehana breathed her last when she was being shifted to the local rural health centre.

The SHO told that the couple owned the factory and visited it at least once a week. It is unclear whether they consumed or breathed poisonous chemicals, which took their lives. The SHO said that the couple's three sons, Arsalan, Lariab, and Junaid, reached the hospital and took away the dead bodies.

They disallowed the postmortem, claiming that their parents had accidentally died. The health sources told the media that asphyxia seemed to be the apparent cause of their deaths. The police sealed the factory's office space because the smell of some chemicals pervaded through the room.
