Traffic wardens told to wear service cards

The Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Ahsan Younas has directed all traffic wardens to wear their service cards on duty. The new directives have come on Monday after an impersonator warden was filmed taking a bribe from a rickshaw driver on Sunday.
Within hours, the video of the incident went viral on the internet wherein a conversation between the rickshaw driver, impersonator, and the person recording it can be heard after which the high-ups of Rawalpindi City Traffic Police took notice.
The suspect reportedly dressed as a traffic warden stopped a rickshaw and demanded the driver for money.
However, when he saw that the activity was being recorded, the impersonator returned the money he had taken from the driver.
As per fresh instructions, it has been made mandatory for all traffic wardens to wear service cards while performing duties over their jackets during winters, a spokesperson shared. The motorists can inquire the wardens if their cards are not visible.
The CPO said that the traffic police will be provided with more body cams to ensure transparency. Younas also directed the traffic response unit to remain alert, particularly when school hours end.
The official maintained that the Rawalpindi police were bringing all resources in use to facilitate the citizens.
