DC vows to stop Kabaddi tournament in school
Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Shahid Waheed has disposed of a petition after the deputy commissioner (DC) Faisalabad submitted his written apology and assurance of stopping a Kabaddi tournament planned at a school.
Petitioner Muhammad Amjad had contended that the Kabaddi tournament was being organised in Government High School 55RB Faisalabad in violation of the education policy that states no marriage ceremony, tournament or other such activities will be organised in schools.
He expressed concern before the court that the tournament will increase coronavirus infliction among participants and visitors assembling at the venue. On his plea, the court summoned the DC Faisalabad and CEO education on Thursday. The DC told the court that the district administration had recently received information that some people were trying to demolish the boundary wall of the school to organise the sporting event, whereas the CEO education assured the court that no permission had been granted to the event organisers.
Justice Waheed expressed his displeasure over the situation and directed the DC to immediately stop the tournament organisers from holding any event on the school premises.
The DC Faisalabad submitted his apology and assured the court that the tournament would be stopped.
