Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Shah Farman administered the oath to Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan as Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) at the Governor House on Saturday.
The ceremony was attended by K-P Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, provincial ministers Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Qalandar Lodhi, Sultan Muhammad Khan, K-P Chief Secretary Dr Kazim Niaz, K-P Inspector General of Police Dr Sanaullah Abbasi and other officials.
Khan was appointed as an acting chief justice of the court on Nov 13 after the demise of CJ Waqar Ahmed Seth who contracted the coronavirus pandemic. Justice Seth was 59 years old.
Khan is the 31st chief justice of the Peshawar High Court. The new CJ was born on March 31, 1961 in Malakand District and received education from Cadet College Kohat, Islamia College Peshawar. Later, he graduated from Khyber Law College in 1984 and started practicing as an advocate in the lower courts in the same year.
During the time, he continued education and completed Master of Arts in Political Science and Journalism from the University of Peshawar.
In his 37-year career, he worked on important positions in different districts of the province and held the posts of inspection judge, Peshawar High Court incharge judge, Judicial Services chairman subordinate, additional advocate general and legal adviser to National Banks.
He was also elected as a member of the K-P Bar Council and Pakistan Bar Council.
