A group of citizens concerned about the state of civic amenities in the city and the chamber of commerce decided on Tuesday to work together for the improvement of the federal capital.
A delegation of the Islamabad Citizens Committee (ICC) led by its President Syed Siddiq Hassan visited the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) to meet with its President Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan and discuss developmental measures for the federal capital, a statement issued by the ICCI said.
Khan mentioned that urban cities play an important role in the economic development of countries around the world and stated that the Capital Development Authority (CDA) should focus on developing Islamabad as a model city to make it the hub of business and economic activities as well as provide a better living environment to its citizens.
He noted that capital cities of many countries are the driving force in their economic development, urging that CDA should also focus on modernisation of infrastructure in the federal capital.
He added that carpeting of all major roads, repairing of footpaths, providing parking space in markets, restoration of all faulty streetlights, setting up filtration plants and public toilets in all commercial and industrial areas would facilitate better investment opportunities for businesses.
