PESHAWAR:

As part of the process to merge departments operating in the merged tribal districts, the provincial government has decided that it will now absorb 17 such parallel departments with those in the settled areas.

Sources in the provincial government told The Express Tribune that the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Establishment Department had asked all the relevant departments to submit their proformas, which had been issued to them, for information on secretaries and director generals.

Now, the provincial health department is finalising plans to merge departments from erstwhile federally administered tribal areas (Fata).

The merger is planned to take place in phases with around 5,000 employees to be adjusted in provincial departments. Around 1,812 health employees are also part of the merger.

In this regard, consultations between seniors of the department are in full swing.

“All these departments were issued different proformas and they were asked to submit all their information, an official with knowledge of the developments but who was not authorised to speak to the media, said.

During a recent meeting, he said, the Establishment Department had asked the secretaries of the relevant departments to issue final certificates.

Once complete, no change will be made to information shared with the establishment department.
