A married woman, a resident of Ghulam Muhammadabad, who taught at a private school in Marzipura was allegedly subject to sexual harassment by the school owner and two other men.
As per the details, they blackmailed her by threatening to share her compromising videos. A case was filed against the alleged harassers and police were still on the look-out.
The survivor reported that during the beginning of the lockdown in March 2020, when all of her colleagues worked from home, she was asked by the school owner, Ali Asghar, a resident of Rehmat Town, to report to school in the last week of March.
Upon coming to school, he offered her juice which was intoxicated. After drinking the juice, she lost consciousness.
After harassing and simultaneously filming her, the accused used those videos to blackmail the victim. He also threatened to kill her, if she tried to report the incident.
The survivor claims that the sexual harasser was now asking her to bring her younger sister along with her. The Ghulam Muhammadabad police team lodged a complaint as per the Section 376 PPC.
Meanwhile, in Jhang Bazar a resident of Ayub Chowk who sells women’s garments, reported that she was raped by an auto rickshaw driver.
On December 13, the victim went to Jhang bazaar to buy clothes and called a rickshaw. The driver took her near Rasheedabad and told her that his mother needs some money. The accused then left his rickshaw and went inside a place.
After he came back, he asked the victim to come along and wait in his house and claimed it might take slightly longer for him to complete his errands.
However, when she accompanied him inside, he allegedly locked her in a room, raped her and then threatened to kill her.
Cases of threatening victims of sexual violence were not uncommon across the province.
On October 3, an 18-year-old girl was first abducted and then gang-raped after being blackmailed over an ‘indecent’ video in Khanpur.
On August 22, police busted a gang of women blackmailers involved in extorting money from people in Bahawalnagar. Reportedly, the group of women used to extort large amounts of money by threatening people. They contacted the victims by phone, recorded their objectionable videos and blackmailed them for money after threatening to make the videos viral on social media platforms.
One of the women had lured a man by ordering repair of weapons and made a video of him while harassing him with the help of other women. They threatened to make the video viral and demanded Rs100,000, the complainant reported.
In July, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) cybercrime team arrested a young man for blackmailing a girl through photos taken during her rape.
The youth was accused of sharing objectionable photos of the girl with his friend.
On July 16, a man accused was arrested for blackmailing his wife’s family after taking her nude photographs in Lahore.
Reportedly, the accused had taken nude pictures of his wife and started blackmailing his family. The accused forced his wife to arrange his meeting with her sister and mother with immoral motives. When she refused to do so, she was tortured
In May, a woman was blackmailed by a close relative after making videos of her being raped in Bhaiwala.
The victim was sexually assaulted by the accused Jaffar.
He made videos of the assault on his mobile phone and blackmailed her.
