LAHORE:

A Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker has alleged that the government had directed the police to raid the houses of party leaders to foil the Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan.

MPA Hina Pervez Butt submitted a resolution in Punjab Assembly secretariat.

“It is the clear order of Prime Minister Imran Khan to Punjab Police as well as the administration of the province that all out efforts be made to prevent the participants from assembling at Minar-e-Pakistan,” she alleged.

The resolution stated that the government was making efforts to foil the opposition’s peaceful movement.

It alleged that raids were being conducted at houses of PML-N leaders to arrest them. Conducting illegal raids and making arrests is tantamount to harassing innocent people and depriving them of their basic right of protest, it added.
