Road crashes claim six lives

Officials blame speeding, negligence of drivers for vehicle collisions

As many as six persons were killed while three others suffered injuries in road accidents on Sunday.

Police said three people including two siblings were killed while a woman was severely injured in a motorcycle-tractor collision in Sayanwala area. The woman was shifted to a hospital. Police rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to a hospital for autopsy.

Two sons of Mohammad Iftikhar, identified as 12-year-old Mohammad Anis and 15-year-old Mohammad Ayan, residents of Chak No 142RB, Chhoti Ghartal, along with their mother, 40-year-old Shahida Parveen and cousin 14-year-old Armaghan, son of Imran, were going home on a motorcycle. Their speeding motorcycle collided with an out of order tractor trolley parked along the road at Expressway, Daska turn.

As a result of the collission, Anis, Ayan and Armaghan died on the spot.

Shahida Parveen, mother of two the deceased brothers, was shifted to Jhumra Hospital in a critical condition after provision of initial medical aid by Rescue 1122.

Upon receiving the information, Nishatabad DSP Fayyaz Ehsan and Sahiyanwala SHO Talash Abbas reached the spot.

After taking the bodies of the three victims into custody, they shifted them to hospital for postmortem.

According to the police officials, the accident took place due to a lack of lights along the road.

The motorcycle rammed into the out of order tractor-trolley in darkness, due to which the three youths were killed, they added.

Separately, three people including two women were killed and another injured in traffic accidents near Dijkot.

Police took the three bodies into their custody and handed them over to their heirs after legal proceedings.

According to local police officials, a speeding tractor-trolley hit an elderly man named Nazir Ahmed, son of Allah Ditta, and his relative Hafeezan Bibi, wife of Mukhtar Ahmed, at Bhatta stop in Millat Town police station’s jurisdiction.

As a result of the accident, Nazir and Hafeezan were crushed under the wheels of the tractor-trolley and died on the spot. Millat Town police handed over both the bodies to the families after taking completing legal formalities. The relatives decided not to file a case.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Afzal, a resident of Chak No 41JB, was riding a motorcycle with his 32-year-old wife Shazia at Jhang Road, Sudhar Bypass Chowk, when the driver of a speeding truck hit it.

As a result, both of them were severely injured and were being shifted to a hospital where Shazia succumbed to her injuries.

In another accident on November 10, four people including two women were killed while three others sustained injuries in a vehicle collision in Sillanwali police limits, Sargodha.

The accident occurred when a rashly driven truck rammed into a rickshaw.

On September 29, at least six members of a family including two men, three women and a minor boy were killed in a road accident in Chichawatni.

The victims were traveling to Mamu Kanjan to attend the funeral of a relative when the accident took place.

On July 26, a speeding truck crushed five people travelling on a motorcycle to death on GT Road, Okara. The victims belonged to the same family.
