PESHAWAR:

To improve the conditions in which students study, the provincial education minister has directed that new schools being built in the province should be constructed per the approved government design and along modern lines.

Minister for Education Shahram Tarakai on Monday said that classrooms should have a ventilation system allowing in sufficient daylight. Moreover, high-quality material must be used in the construction of schools.

Tarakai issued these directives while chairing a meeting at the education department to review the design of government schools which will be built under the Annual Development Programme (ADP).

The education minister directed design engineers to make modern designs for all the new rooms being constructed in the schools. Outdated and old designs are not acceptable and directed the authorities to send a report on Kalu Khan and Kalodher schools immediately.

The minister stressed that special attention should be given to ensure sufficient greenery in the schools as a design element - included in the form of flora planted in and around the schools.

The minister was also briefed about the ongoing projects of the Education Department.

Tarakai directed that a report on the number of vacancies in government schools across the province should be submitted within a week. Besides the recently advertised vacancies for over 20,000 posts, new vacancies will be filled as soon as possible, he added.
