United States (US) charge d’affaires Angela Aggeler has assured Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah that the US government will support the health and education sectors in the province.
Aggeler, accompanied by US Consul General Rob Silberstein, met Shah on Tuesday to discuss matters of mutual interest.
Informing the visiting diplomat that the recent torrential rains had left thousands of people homeless in Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas divisions, the CM thanked donor agencies such as USAID for providing support to the affected people.
Furthermore, he said the Sindh government had taken serious measures to curb the spread of coronavirus in the province. “We closed schools when the first Covid-19 case was detected,” he said, claiming the government’s measures had helped control the virus outbreak to an extent.
The CM also mentioned the US-funded projects in the province, such as Jacobabad Institute of Medical Sciences, a water supply scheme and other projects in the education sector, at which Aggeler assured him of the US government’s support in the province.
