Awan says customised slogan ‘Islamabad the beautiful’ will be promoted

ISLAMABAD:

Even though the number of novel coronavirus cases has started rising again, the government is mulling plans on how it can safely open up a popular recreational site in the federal capital to the public, the Rawal Dam.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Capital Development Authority (CDA) Affairs Ali Nawaz Awan on Sunday said that the spot will reopen as soon as mandatory work is completed. In a tweet on Sunday, he said the site has remained closed for over a decade due to law and order and management issues."Rawal Dam spot will be opened for tourists and residents as soon as mandatory works there are completed.

He also shared a decision taken by the National Assembly Committee on Water Resources regarding reopening of the site for the promotion of tourism in the federal capital. The citizens of the Federal Capital also expressed joy over the announcement and Awan asked the relevant departments to promote the slogan 'Islamabad-the Beautiful' as a customized brand locally and internationally to attract more tourists.

DOAM to display artefact dating back 2m years

The Islamabad Museum, Department of Archeology & Museums (DOAM) DOAM has displayed antique and even archaic relics and historical objects, some of which are as old as around 2 million years while most of them date back to 20th century until the British Raj.

DOAM has preserved and displayed around 1,300 antique objects from Gandhara and Indus Civilizations, Mohenjo-Daro, Harappa and ancient Indian civilizations including Hindu, Buddhist and Mughal era, an official of Islamabad museum told.
