KARACHI:

The Sindh government, in consultation with the federal government, has formed a 'provincial coordination and implementation committee,' so that development projects in the Rs1.1 trillion Karachi Transformation Plan can be planned and executed smoothly.

A notification was issued in this regard by the Services, General Administration and Coordination Department.

The notification states that the Sindh chief secretary, planning and development department chairperson, local government secretary and transport secretary, and representatives of the Karachi corps headquarters, National Disaster Management Authority and federal government, among others, have been included as members in the committee.

The Karachi package was announced by Prime Minister Imran Khan on his recent visit to the metropolis, in the wake of torrential rains that caused wide-spread damage to the city's infrastructure. Development initiatives under the package are to be jointly implemented by the Sindh government and Centre.

The announcement was made two days after Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah presented a Rs802 billion package for the city.
