ISLAMABAD:

Indonesia has appointed Adam Mulawarman Tugio as the new ambassador to Pakistan.

He replaces former envoy Iwan Amri Indonesian President Joko Widodo had met with newly appointed ambassadors to various countries the other day and approved their nominations.

Tugio is a career diplomat and has held several important diplomatic positions in different countries.

Currently, he is serving as the deputy chief of mission for the Indonesian diplomatic mission in London, United Kingdom.

Previously, he has served as the director of North American Affairs at the Indonesian foreign ministry from 2016-17, head of Bureau of General Affairs from 2014-16, minister counsellor, Coordinator of Public Affairs at the Indonesian Embassy in Washington DC, and Diplomat Directorate of International Treaties.

He has also served as the counsellor of Political Affairs Desk at the Permanent Mission of Indonesia in New York.
