FAISALABAD:

A couple and a 10-year-old girl died due to poisonous gas from a dyeing factory on Jhang Road, while three women are being treated at the hospital.

Police handed over the three bodies to their heirs after postmortem and registered a case against the factory owner. Poisonous gas coming out from dyeing factory in Ayub Colony on the backside of the Jhang Road Cemetery suddenly started spreading late in night.

Due to the poisonous gas, the people of the area got suffocated and six people, including a woman, a man and their daughter fell unconscious.

Rescue 1122 team transported them to the hospital after providing medical aid when a 40-year-old Rubina Bibi, wife of Ashraf, nine-year-old daughter Khadija, and 50-year-old Ashraf Muhammad passed away.

Nasreen Bibi and Shagufta were rushed to a hospital where they are being treated.

Dyeing factory owner Nazir Ahmed locked the factory and fled. After receiving information from the locals, the factory area police reached the spot, seized the three bodies and handed them over to their heirs after postmortem.

Police registered a case against the owner on the statement of Muhammad Nazir and started raids to arrest him.

Investigating in-charge and Sub-Inspector Taimur Shehzad told The Express Tribune that the factory owner Ahmed has set up a dyeing yarn near the house of the deceased in which he used to dye clothes with chemicals. Due to this reason the gas was dispersed in the house.

Meanwhile, Ashraf’s daughter Khadija was washing dishes and she lost consciousness because of the poisonous gas. As soon as Rubina Bibi and Ashraf entered, they also fainted.

The three victims were rushed to a hospital where they passed away. A case has been registered against the accused. The environment department team has sealed the factory.
