QUETTA:

Balochistan police has announced to challenge a lower court verdict in the Balochistan High Court pertaining to the acquittal of Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party’s former MPA Majeed Khan Achakzai in the traffic sergeant killing case. Model Court Quetta Judge Dost Muhammad Mandokhel had acquitted Achakzai two days ago in the murder case over a lack of evidence regarding the presence of the former MPA in the vehicle which hit and killed traffic sergeant Ataullah Buzdar.Additional Inspector General Police Quetta, Abdul Razzaq Cheema on Monday announced that the police high command has decided to approach the BHC against the judgment of the lower court “Appeal draft will be finalised after scrutinising all legal aspects and in view of the detailed judgment of the court against the acquittal of Majeed Achakzai and it will be filed in the Balochistan High Court soon,” AIGP Cheema said. It is pertinent to mention that traffic sergeant Buzdar was killed in a hit and run accident in June 2017. The case was highlighted when a video of the killing went viral on social media.
