Lawmakers to debate unannounced power outages in the province

PESHAWAR:

The provincial assembly would take up the issue of unannounced and power cuts in the province in its session on Monday.

The 13th session of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Assembly was adjourned for five days due to Muharram.

The session was convened at the requisition of the Opposition benches to debate the issue of the electricity load-shedding which has badly impacted businesses and daily lives of people of the province. The opposition leaders had been demanding of the government to address the issue of power cuts.

Only the Awami National Party (ANP) parliamentary leader Sardar Hussain Babak had spoken on the issue of electricity outages in the last session and it was adjourned.

Two calling-attention-notices and one adjournment motion would also be tabled in tomorrow’s session and officials of the education department have also been summoned for answering questions of lawmakers.

The house would also discuss inflation, unemployment, and provision of funds for development projects in the province. The session is also expected to discuss the issue of flash floods which have wreaked havoc in several parts of the province including Swat, Dir and Chitral.
