RAWALPINDI:

The Chaklala Cantonment Board has announced an amnesty scheme for irregular and illegal structures built within the remits of the board. CCB Executive Officer Wasim Shahid said that they are implementing a new policy across the cantonment whereby all those structures built without a pre-approved building plan will be allowed to have their structures regularised by paying a fee and submitting their plans. Moreover, Shahid said that the CCB has decided to register survey draftsmen and cartographers. Once this process is complete, only building plans from authorised cartographers will be allowed to submit building plans for approval. The CCB chief said that under the amnesty scheme, those who get their building plans approved will only have to pay the registration fees and will not face any fines. He hoped that the amnesty scheme will not only regulate existing illegal structures which have sprung up in the cantonment but will also enable them to recover substantial revenue apart from ending any future illegal constructions.
