HYDERABAD:
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) will offer unconditional support to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for restoring peace and stability in Karachi and the country before the situation spirals out of control, said MQM Rabita Committee deputy convenor Dr Farooq Sattar at the inauguration ceremony of the Nazir Hussain Medical Complex on Saturday. “The MQM might be an opposition party but it is willing to cooperate for the sake of the province and the country.” He added that reconciliation was just part of the process.
While talking to the media, Sattar compared his party leader with a good physician. “Only a good physician like Altaf Hussain can treat issues such as poverty, unemployment, inflation, law and order and load shedding,” he said.
Sattar claimed that the hospital was an Eid gift from Hussain to the people of Hyderabad. Built by the Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation, Rs100 million was spent on the maternity and pediatrics ward named after Hussain. There are 70 beds in the hospital with a special mechanical ventilation facility for infants. “The foundation bought 12 ventilators for Rs24 million,” he said. “A medical and dental college will be constructed near the complex by next year.”
Hussain was supposed to deliver a speech on Saturday at the inauguration but it was cancelled. Mustafa Kamal, Tarir Mir Bhai, Rabita Committee member Ashraf Mangi and Hyderabad zonal in-charge Muhammad Sharif were also present at the inauguration.
