HARIPUR:

A young man was killed when a woman allegedly shot at him from close distance in Haripur late on Monday. Police said that 22-year-old Wajid, who is a resident of Railway Road in Haripur, was heading to Wah Cantonment along with a girl identified as Nina.

They added that per initial witness reports, the girl was sitting in the backseat of the car from where she allegedly shot Wajid in the neck with a 30 bore pistol. As a result, Wajid was critically injured, suffering damage to his spinal cord and causing him to lose control over his body. Subsequently, the car veered off the road and crashed into an electric pole near Jahaz Square.

The woman, though, gathered her things and fled. Wajid then called out for help. Locals called Rescue 1122 which dispatched an ambulance. After providing him with first aid, the ambulance shifted him to a trauma centre where he succumbed to his wound. After completing all medico-legal procedures, the police handed over Wajid’s body to his family for burial.

Meanwhile, they registered a murder case. Hospital authorities said that before he succumbed to his wounds, Wajid managed to record his statement with the police.
