KARACHI:

A local court on Saturday declared the investigation officer’s (IO) report unsatisfactory in a murder and issued a notice to Karachi AIG Ghulam Nabi Memon.

East judicial magistrate Asif Ali Abbasi was hearing the case, pertaining to the murder of a man, Fayyaz.

The IO, who is a DSP, presented the report, which stated that the police had failed to find evidence about the murder, while the available evidence was burned.

At this, the magistrate asked who had burned the evidence, to which the IO replied that he did not know. Irked, Abbasi remarked that he should know who destroyed the evidence, as destroying evidence was a crime too.

The court declared the report dissatisfactory and issued a notice to Memon, directing him to appoint an SSP-ranked official for the investigation and to submit the progress report.
