ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad high court (IHC) has barred Capital Development Authority (CDA) from constructing any new sector without clearance of dues to the affected people of Sector G-14.

The IHC also issued a stay order against the Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) operation in the related sector.

A single-member bench comprising IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah also issued notices to the Interior Ministry secretary and Housing Authority and Land Acquisition Collector.

During the hearing, Raja Faisal Younus, who was representing the affected people, maintained that the eviction of his clients through an operation without payment of compensation to them was a violation of the Constitution.

At this, Minallah said that that the residents of Sector G-14 cannot be evicted by the administration or police without payment of compensation.
