Complete shutter-down strike being observed in parts of interior Sindh on the call of Awami Tahreek.
KARACHI:
A complete shutter-down strike is being observed in parts of interior Sindh on the call of Awami Tahreek in reaction to comments given by Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain and MNA Waseem Akhtar, Express 24/7 reported on Firday.
The Awami Tahreek took out a rally in the Nasim Nagar area of Hyderabad, while a number of shops and businesses in the district remained shut.
Party workers also demonstrated outside the press club in Sukkur.
Protest rallies were also taken out in Badin, Matli, Thatta, Sajawal, Shahpur, Tando Mohammad Khan, Digri, Tando Jam Mohammad and Tharparkar.
Altaf Hussain had earlier also said that he apologised if he had hurt the sentiments of native Sindhis with his remarks on their pre-partition status. He clarified that his speech was only against those who discriminate against Mohajirs on the basis of ethnicity, and were directing insults towards them.
