ISLAMABAD: Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) has condemned and opposed the Public Sector Universities Amendment Act 2020, saying that any attempt to reduce or affect the autonomy of universities would be resisted.

An online meeting of FAPUASA was held under the chairmanship of FAPUASA President Dr Sohail Yousuf. Provincial officials also participated in the meeting in which issues related to universities and especially teachers and staff were discussed. FAPUASA strongly opposes any proposal to appoint retired judges or bureaucrats to head the syndicate.

It urges vice-chancellors to take a strong stand to protect the sovereignty of universities by withdrawing the Public Sector Universities Amendment Act 2020.
