Rind sends SOS to Centre against locust plague

Provincial Chief Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind demanded federal government to initiate pesticides spray

QUETTA: Balochistan Minister for Education and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Provincial Chief Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind demanded federal government to initiate pesticides spray through air to save crops of the province from locust attack.

“Agriculture area in Bolan, Kachi, Sibi, Naushki, Quetta, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Ziarat and Dhadar have been invaded by locust destroying major corps in Balochistan, said Rind in a statement issued on Friday.  He noted the province was already in grip of coronavirus pandemic and the locust attack have ruined the economic future of Balochistan adding the financial woes of local farmers.

“The Food and Agricultural Organization has warned Pakistan may bear a loss of $5 billion due to worst locust invasion during the span of 25 years,” said the provincial minister, pledging to raise concerns of provincial farmers with central leadership of PTI.
