Committee of minority MPAs begins work

The minority members of the assembly presented their problems and possible solutions

LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Law and Social Welfare Basharat Raja has said the Constitution of Pakistan provides full protection to the rights of minorities.

He expressed these views while presiding over the first meeting of the special committee of minority legislators on Tuesday.

“Punjab CM Usman Buzdar has set up the special committee to address the concerns of members of the Punjab Assembly from minority communities,” he said.

The meeting was also attended by minority lawmakers Mahendra Pal Singh, Haroon Iqbal Gill and Peter Gill.

The provincial minister added that the committee would submit its recommendations to the chief minister within seven days after taking suggestions of the representatives of the minorities.

At the meeting, the minority members of the assembly presented their problems and possible solutions.

Singh said that the efforts of the chief minister and the law minister for solving the problems of minority members of the assembly were commendable.

Haroon said by solving the problems faced by minorities, they should be included in the mainstream of national development.
