KARACHI: Government officials will visit industrial plant regularly to ensure that the standard operating procedures (SOPs) defined by the government are being duly followed, said Sindh Industries and Commerce Minister Jam Ikramullah Dharejo on Tuesday.

The provincial minister said this while meeting a delegation of industrialists from Karachi.

"Everyone has to follow the SOPs and those who will not follow them will be dealt with strictly, according to the law," he said.

Moreover, Dharejo stated that many unregistered industries were functioning in the province as several industrial units were established in 2006 without any registration, adding that the government was working towards registering them.

On the occasion, industrialists told the provincial minister about the losses they had suffered due to the lockdown and made recommendations for improving the situation.

Assuring that the government would provide all kinds of facilities to industrialists, the provincial minister stated that he would convey their legitimate demands and recommendations to Sindh chief minister.

He said that the government had eased the lockdown keeping in view the problems faced by citizens, traders and industries, even though it increased the risk of coronavirus spread.
