NAB files reference against LG officers

After the completion of the projects, the money transactions were made in the personal account of the senior clerk

QUETTA: National Accountability Bureau Balochistan chapter on Thursday filed a reference against Shirani Local Government officers in Accountability Court Quetta under the Anti-Money Laundering Act and National Accountability Ordinance, according to a press release issued by NAB.

The accountability watchdog, during the investigation, found that the LG officers of the district, including Assistant Director Saifullah Qaisrani, Assistant Engineer Khawaja Khan, Senior Clerk Ashraf Khan and others received illegal payments through bank accounts from the contractors responsible for executing government uplift schemes in Shirani.

After the completion of the development projects, the money transactions were made in the personal account of the senior clerk.

The accountability watchdog, after accumulating the evidence, filed a reference in the Accountability Court Quetta against the three LG officers under NAO and Anti-Money Laundering Act, according to the press release. Besides, Balochistan NAB Director General Farmanullah Khan vowed to take action against corrupt people.

“NAB is striving hard to end corruption from society through its holistic approach of awareness, prevention and enforcement,” he said.
